Ash begins his journey to become a great Pokemon master. However, his first Pokemon - Pikachu - refuses to obey his command...

-Gym Leaders are a higher rank than any typical Pokemon Trainer, they run a gym sponsored by the Pokemon League, to test the skill of each trainer during an official gym battle. If defeated, the gym leader is authorized to give the trainer a badge. Collect 8 badges, and the trainer is eligible to enter the Pokemon League.

-There are Pokemon Centers, or Pokemon Hospitals, in every city. Ash and Pikachu will encounter tons more Pokemon Centers in their journey.
