Detailed summary
LONG SUMMARY: Cofell figures out that the man driving his limo is not his regular driver and Jack locks all the doors. Cofell pleads with Jack to stop the car, so Jack does; draws his gun and gets Cofell's phone off him. Cofell's first assumption is that Jack wants money, and then denies knowing Jack or Gaines. Cofell says the only reason he has a bullet proof car is for protection, but Jack is doubtful.
Over at CTU, Alberta gets more people to work on finding Martin Belkin. Jack calls Nina and she has to pretend it is someone else and gets Tony do distract Green when she wants to talk to this "someone else". Jack tells Nina he has Cofell, and wants a quick interrogation profile. Nina does her best but it isn't much. Cofell tells Jack he was just meeting another businessman named Kevin Carroll but Jack asks, why meet in a parking garage? Jack threatens Cofell with pain but only gets more denials. Jack thinks Kevin Carroll's machinery business is a cover but Nina worries Jack is losing it, and Cofell is really not involved.
Rick is sent to interrogate the women and tells them not to say anything so he won't have anything to report back to Eli. When he does this, Eli bashes him. Gaines at long last meets with Andre Drazen. He gives Gaines thirty minutes to have everything done, or he will take control killing Teri, Kim and probably Gaines. Rick hears this all.
Carl calls Palmer at the school and he agrees to meet Palmer, but tells him the rumours about Ferragamo are only rumours. Sherry tells Palmer she did speak to Carl but she didn't know what he means. Palmer still thinks she was disloyal, and he may be right. Mike gets Jack's agency file, but it has gaps such as a mission from exactly two years ago. Palmer already knows this.
Cofell manages to get a knife that was hidden inside the car, and when they stop at the meeting place he tries to kill Jack. His plan is foiled but he starts yelling at Jack in Serbian and Jack realises this has something to do with a mission in Belgrade. However as Jack attacks Cofell, he goes into cardiac arrest and while Jack tries to give him his pills, Cofell still refuses to tell him any information and then he dies. Over the phone Nina consoles Jack, who is sure that he will never find his family now. Jack knows it's personal and asks her to check into a two-year-old assignment he did in Belgrade and Kosovo called 'Operation Nightfall'. Jack watches as Kevin Carroll climbs into the limo, and then locks the doors. It is none other than the man who pretended to be Alan York. Kevin fires at Jack but the bulletproof divider is up. Kevin is thrown about as Jack takes him for a joyride through the garage.
Tony wants to come clean to Alberta, but Nina says that although Alberta is on the side of good, one of the many people she will call may be another Jamey
Teri wakes Kim, as they have to be on guard, and Rick arrives to give them Dan's gun because he knows what is in store for them. Teri admits to Kim her stomach is hurting but refuses to get help from their kidnappers.
It is 10:51 AM, and Jack has tied up Kevin who says that the women are safe, but won't say where. Jack says he will let Kevin go if he finds his family, otherwise he threatens torture. Kevin agrees and they drive out of the garage.
Carl denies that Ferragamo is on a hit list of any kind and says that it is not so much Carl who is threatening, but the people they both work for. Palmer decides to call Ferragamo, and tells Carl to leave and never return.
Andre Drazen says Gaines' time is up and orders Eli to kill the women. Eli enters and tells them they are about to die. Teri shoots at him, but the gun is not loaded. As Eli starts strangling her, Kim stops him and his gun falls to the floor. He pins Kim to the ground and pulls out a switchblade. But Teri gets his gun and shoots him in the back. Kim gets out from under him and Teri shoots again, as whoever sent him in was expecting to hear two shots. They go about hiding the body.
Notes
Jack's opening monologue is now a little different again, with the words 'Right now' starting it off. This does give a bit more of a 'real time' feel to the show.
Carlos Bernard was uncredited in this episode.
